In deze Nieuwsflits vind je informatie over activiteiten die in december en januari 2025 in onze wijk plaatsvinden, georganiseerd door buurtgenoten en het wijkplatform. Omdat de buurt ons lief is, en we de behoefte voelen iets gezelligs met de mensen om ons heen te doen.

This year, we will be celebrating Christmas together for the 3rd time. Together with family, neighbours, and friends, we will gather to light up our beautiful Burgwal neighbourhood.
On Saturday, December 21st, we expect many residents to join us at the Burgwal Christmas Square near the Vissersbocht from 4:30 PM onwards. Last year, we had a fantastic afternoon/evening with about 100 neighbours, enjoying glühwein, pea soup, Christmas bread, and hot chocolate. This year, we secretly expect even more people. Come join us, sing along with singer Jet, have a drink, eat some Christmas bread, or maybe you fancy some pea soup.
The Burgwal neighbourhood platform, together with the municipality of Haarlem, warmly invites you! Bring your family, neighbours, and friends from the neighbourhood so everyone can experience the true Burgwal Christmas spirit.
Program for December 21st:
- 4:30 PM: Gathering at the Christmas Square near the Vissersbocht, time for a drink and a snack
- 4:45 PM: Opening by the chairman
- 4:50 PM: Lighting the lights
- 4:55 PM: Christmas poem read by a neighbour
- 5:00 PM: “X-mas Sing a Long” with Jet
During the afternoon and evening, free glühwein, hot chocolate, pea soup, and Christmas bread will be offered by the Burgwal wijkplatform and the Municipality of Haarlem.
Let’s make it an unforgettable Christmas celebration together!
Volunteers Needed
To organize the Christmas sing-along, we need your help. We are looking for several volunteers to assist with setting up the Christmas Square. We also need some hands to serve the Christmas bread, glühwein, pea soup, and hot chocolate. Together, we can make it happen. Even a little help would be fantastic. We promise that you, as a volunteer, will also fully enjoy the Burgwal Christmas celebration with all the neighbours.

New Year’s Reception
On Wednesday, January 8th, you are warmly invited to join us and other neighbourhood residents to raise a glass to a beautiful and meaningful 2025.
On this evening, we would like to discuss with you the “Burgwal Neighbourhood of the Future.” Additionally, there will be plenty of time to get to know and chat with neighbours.
In 2025, as the Burgwal neighbourhoods platform, we want to take the first steps with you towards a future where the neighbourhood and its residents play a central role in creating a liveable, safe, and healthy environment with more care and meaning for each other. A beautiful New Year’s thought with appropriate goals, for which we invite all residents of Burgwal to start 2025 well together.
